Bishop's University (undergraduate student population 2400) is located next to the borough of Lennoxville (population 5000), a district within the city of Sherbrooke (population 154,000).  Founded in 1843 as Bishop's College, under the sponsorship of the Anglican Bishop of Quebec G.J. Mountain, Bishop’s remained under the aegis of the Church of England until 1947, when the Corporation of the University was reconstituted and Bishop's University became a nondenominational institution welcoming students from all backgrounds, cultures, and creeds.

2016 TAC Summer Events participants will be housed in Paterson Hall, an L-shaped, four-story, air-conditioned residence within the campus of Bishop's University, Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.  Accomodation is suite style, with four bedrooms per suite, three with single beds and one with a double bed.  Each suite includes a kitchen, lounge, dining area, and two bathrooms.  For further details of What's in the Building, What's in the Suite, and What's in the Bedroom see Accommodation.

Dancing, Dining, Parking, Recreation
All events are held on the campus of Bishop's University
The campus is small and arranged around treed and lawn areas.  All buildings are within 500 m (545 yards) of each other
Dance spaces in Price Sports Centre are within 250 m (275 yards) of the accommodation in Paterson Hall, located in the SE corner of the campus
Dewhurst Dining Hall is within the residence complex
Dance spaces are air conditioned and residences have cold-air exchange systems.
Long-term parking is free with a conference pass (to be displayed at all times)
Wi-Fi is available in all academic and public univerity spaces.
TAC name tag gives complimentary access to Sports Centre, outdoor pool, tennis court, and 9-hole golf course.  Because maintenance is often scheduled when university classes are not in session, we cannot guarantee that all these facilities will be available during our summer event.
Fees apply for sports equipment rental
The closet retail area (coffee shop, bakery, bookstore, fast food, etc) is located in Lennoxville, a walking distance of about 1.5 km (1 mile) from Paterson Hall residence.
Paved bicycle path from campus to Sherbrooke.
Smoking is banned on campus in all public buildings including student residences.  Smoking is also banned outdoors within 9 m of any door leading to a campus building and in other designated non-smoking areas.

TAC Sound and TAC Books
The TACSound and TACBooks stores will be loated in John H Price Sports Centre.
A large selection of stock will be available during Summer School, but to avoid disappointment consider placing a pre-order to be sure the items you want are there for you.  Place your orders online, and mark 'pickup' in the delivery option making a note that you wish to pick up the order at Summer School.

What to Bring

  • dance shoes! extra dance shoes; extra insoles
  • skirts/dresses/kilts for SCD classes and evening social dances
  • some combination of purple and green for Tuesday night's social dance
  • elegant attire (such as ball gown, dress kilt) for ball
  • casual clothes for ceilidh and after-dance hospitality mixers
  • swim wear for campus swimming pools
  • water bottle for classes and evening socials – limited water cups available as the campus encourages recycling
  • reading light – bedrooms have only a central ceiling light
  • clothes hangers – none are supplied
  • small fan – residence rooms have cold-air exchange systems
  • an extension cord if you wish to plug in several items in your room
  • toiletries such as shampoo, toothpaste, etc
  • hat, sunscreen, umbrella for afternoon rain showers
  • something long-sleeved in case rooms are over-air conditioned
